support on MegaStar Cineplex's (MSC)
www.megastar.vn US$30 million development program
in Vietnam.
MegaStar is a Vietnamese joint venture between Envoy Media Partners and
Phuong Nam Corp. As the Program Manager, Trogon's responsibilities focused on analyzing project alternatives, providing cost and scheduling parameters, establishing project delivery strategy, and managing communication and performance across all projects. The Vincom City Towers (VCT) is a retail, entertainment and business center. The twin 21 storey towers provide 75,000 square meters of office space on top of 27,600 square meters of retail space on six levels. Located on Level 6 overlooking Hanoi, the VCT location is MSC's first state-of-the-art cinema complex in Vietnam. The cinema is an 8-screen, 1,115-seat stadium design complex on a 3,350 square meter footprint, which also includes a coffee and beer bar. Program Challenges To deliver a world class, first run cinema infrastructure, which would serve as a prototype design and a standardized repeatable process applicable to all potential sites. The ultimate goal being the introduction of MSC into the Vietnamese market. Trogon supervised the design and construction process, providing management, logistics and technical solutions. The lack of modern cinema infrastructure and support industry in Vietnam presented the biggest challenge requiring extensive research and modeling in selecting the best systems to meet MSC's business objectives. Design Initiative To meet the MSC's strong focus on execution, Trogon integrated an initiative to standardize the cinema prototype design, cinema furnishings and equipment. An experienced team of FF&E providers was assembled to mitigate MSC's risk with respect to execution time, quality and project economics. The utility aspects of the cinema were designed with simplicity, security and low maintenance as the primary goal.
